Paul's mom has lived in South Africa for over 40 years, and she still calls Ireland "home".

When I lived in England, one of my neighbours asked me whether I was going "home" for Christmas.

Where is home, I ask myself.

I don't have a home in South Africa any more, so I can't go home there. I just go back to a country that has changed so much since I left, I no longer feel qualified to talk about it.

I've steadfastly refused to join a South African Club of any kind, because I don't know why I'll get on better with people who share none of my interests, just because we're 6,000 miles from South Africa. And in any case, within three minutes they'll be talking about how bad things are "back home."

Where is home?
