There's been a media furore about Jack Straw wanting women to remove their veils when consulting with him.

This morning on the radio, I even heard it reported that we should not be interering with Muslim women's right to wear veils in public.

I'm sorry, they have no such right. They are compelled to wear them in public by their male owners. It marks them as nothing more than chattels, beings without souls or feelings. And they have no rights in the society that makes them wear the garb.

Has everyone already forgotten why the Taliban were despised?

The veil is an insult to emancipated women throughout the world. It is the symbol of having no rights at all, a symbol of domination by males simply because they are male.

At one time women used to burn their bras. Now it's time to burn the veils.
